WOLFIEOur Wolfie is a spectacular looking American Eskimo Dog, who came into our rescue after his beloved owner became disabled and could no longer care for him. After he spent some time as a rather forlorn inmate of a rural Animal Control facility, we were asked to take Wolfie into our foster program with hopes of finding him a forever home. |
For the past four months, I have been fostering Wolfie, an absolutely sweet and beautiful boy, snow white with gorgeous biscuit freckles and markings, completely house trained and affectionate. Since he came into my home, he has done very well. Because his owner was disabled and he lived in a yard in the country, he never really had a chance to socialize with other animals or experience the city. So the Wolf Man barks at buses and trucks, bikers and runners because he is just not used to them. I just make sure to keep a firm hand on the leash when he pulls toward them and it has not been a problem. |

Now, he has many friends in Central Park and except for unneutered or very aggressive dogs, he has no problem getting along with others. He is beyond perfect with children, even small children and toddlers and loves being petted by everyone. I am very careful when meeting unknown dogs. Wolfie's main quirk can be with cats. He and my tiny fearless little Calico girl are best buds and hang out together. However, Mr. Vinnie, my big tough looking Tabby guy is afraid of Wolfie...as he is afraid of his own shadow. This makes the Wolf want to chase him. Mr. Vinnie, in short, is a big wuss. If he weren't, it would take all the charge out of Wolfie chasing him. Consequently, Vinnie spends his time on top of the bookcase, except for when the Wolf is outside. If the two of them worked it out as all my other Eskies and cats always have, I would keep Wolfie myself. |
I really fell in love with this handsome boy and hate to part with him but Vinnie cannot spend the rest of his life on the shelf. The Wolf is all guy, does his business well, pees about 20 times on every walk, first lifting one leg, then turning and lifting the other. We do all have our cute quirks, I guess. | ![]() |

In summary, Wolfie is a wonderful dog and great company for someone with or without children, with a place to exercise and walk and a loving home. He is a good boy and I know he will make someone as happy as he has made me while in my home. |
