WILLOW

Willow is going to be a dream come true for the right Eskie fanatic. About three years old, this beautiful American Eskimo Dog was surrendered to us for her own safety! The resident Great Pyrenees in her former home, was giving Willow a very difficult time. Her story tugged at our heartstrings, but then we met her! Willow is the consummate Eskie Diva, and it became clear to us that she may have been the instigator of arguments with her impatient housemate.

As legions of Eskie devotees will testify, this wonderful breed can be a sheer force of nature. We often see a healthy dose of the Napoleon complex in Eskies, and Willow is no exception. While it may seem cute to see a tiny Eskie tilt at such formidible windmills, such behavior is a dicey proposition for her.

Willow has a larger-than-life personality with real "brat potential," if left to run amuck. We got the feeling that her former owners were bewitched by her extreme cuteness, and while they loved her, they were ill equipped to manage the out of kilter multi-dog pack. Willow is an energetic little girl, who needs an active lifestyle that will challenge her mentally and physically.

Eskies are highly intelligent dogs, and if their mental and physical needs are not met, they can make mayhem. Presumably that's what occurred in her former home. As seasoned Eskie Lovers, we have found Willow beyond delightful, and seek like-minded Eskie folks, who are willing to help this spirited Diva reach her full potential.

Willow is a petite miniature American Eskimo Dog, weighing just 15 pounds. She is small boned, with a lean, athletic physique, and has a dense double coat that is the hallmark of breed standard Eskie. As an owner surrender, she has been loved and well cared for.

Willow could easily join the active home of a single or couple, who's lifestyle includes brisk, walking, hiking, camping, or any activity in which Willow could participate. She loves to be center stage, and would flourish in an adult home, but would balk at the affections of "handsy" toddlers. Willow needs alot of attention and is not the kind of dog who should be relegated to the backyard for a life of solitude. She needs to be integrated tightly into the adult lifestyle, and allowed to shine.

Willow interacts well with some same-size dogs, and but has little patience for another dog who will steal her spotlight or try to boss her around. Willow is an attentive obedience student, and is both treat and praise motivated. She would be an Obedience or Agility natural champion, if the adopters are so inclined. Ongoing, disciplined obedience work is the key to unlocking Willow's tremendous potential.

Willow has good house manners and is house trained and crate trained, but adopters should expect to troubleshoot the occasional accident that will inevitably occur during her transition to a new home. She is in optimal health, and has been recently spayed. She has been vaccinated for rabies, DHLPPC (distemper, hepatitis, leptospirosis parvo, parainfluenza and coronavirus), and canine flu. She has been boostered as needed. She has had the 4dx test, and is negative for heartworm, lyme, earlichia and anaplasmosis. She has been dewormed.
