ADOPTED

VIOLET

Violet is one of the prettiest girls to grace our rescue. A one year old North Carolina native, Violet was surrendered to a local shelter after her owner died unexpectedly. At first, Violet seemed uncertain about new people, but after nearly three months with us, she has rediscovered her joyous puppy roots.

Violet joined our rescue along with two of her shelter mates, and we were immediately smitten. This lovely lady seems shy at first, but she opens up easily once the human love starts flowing. Violet is extremely affectionate, and would make an outstanding family dog. She loves people and could easily live happily with older kids. Her gentle, loving nature is on full display. She definitely wears her heart on her sleeve.

Violet is a medium sized dog with a tall, lean physique, and weighs about 40 pounds. She could easily gain 5 pounds to reach normal weight. She is active, but does not have an over-the-top energy level. She requires a couple of leisurely, "smell the roses" daily walks, but then is content to rest or take a nap. She would do well in a family setting, or with an active single or couple. Violet will be happy as long as she is loved.

Violet loves other dogs and has become a superstar in our large dog playgroup. She easily could join a multi-dog home with other friendly dogs, but we have not had her around cats. She is available solo, or with any of her Hound playmates, to anyone interested in a well matched pair.

Violet is a Treeing Walker Coonhound, but does not have an overdeveloped prey drive. As a Scent Hound, her instincts are a mixed bag of attributes, and she requires sufficient exercise and mental stimulation to be happy and calm. Her ideal adopters would be active folks, who can include her on hikes or walks, camping, or any kind of outdoors activity that will challenge mind and body.

Violet has good house manners, and is house trained and crate trained. Adopters should expect to troubleshoot the occasional accident that will inevitably occur during her transition to a new home. She has been spayed, and has received routine vaccinations and health screenings.
