TINA

Sweet Tina is a timid little soul, who seems as though she has the weight of the world on her tiny shoulders. This petite beauty was found as a city stray and was brought to the Animal Control facilty as a frightened, emaciated cast off.

Tina became shut down and terrified at the shelter. Her initial behavior evaluations were cautionary, as she was slow to warm to human touch. She was extremely underweight, only 8.6 pounds, and was rejected for spay surgery until she put on a little weight.

Despite exhaustive attempts to find Tina's owners, nobody came to claim her. We were thrilled to invite Tina to join our rescue, and it became our mission to rehabilitate her spirit and restore her health.

Tina had a ravenous appetite and readily devoured all the nutritious food and treats that we gave her. Once out of the shelter, Tina became our little Butterfly. As each day passed, she became more relaxed and content.

Shelter staff pegged Tina as a 4 year old Italian Greyhound/Toy Fox Terrier mix. She may have a dose of Rat Terrier as well. She has the leggy, athletic appearance of the Italian Greyhound, with the tri-colors of the Fox Terrier. Tina's build is a bit more sturdy than the average IG, and she has filled out nicely to 10.5 pounds.

In terms of temperment, Tina seems far more sight hound than Terrier. She has none of the frantic Terrier high energy and all the grace and sweetness of the Italian Greyhound. She is an active girl who loves her spirited walks, but is also content to nap in her person's lap after an outing. Tina loves the outdoors and would make an ideal running or walking companion. She is the ideal car passenger, and is small enough to fly in the Airline approved Sherpa bag.

Tina loves other dogs and has a lovely quality that her foster housemates seem to like. She could easily join a multi-dog household, and is mild mannered enough to co-exist with cats. Tina seems to get along with all creatures great and small.

Tina is a timid girl, who craves human attention and affection...once she bonds and trusts. She will melt onto her person's arms and then hang on for dear life. Tina needs to connect with her own person, and once she bonds, she sticks like glue!

Tina would be a great companion for an active single or couple, who enjoy the pleasures of connecting with a disenfranchised rescue dog. Tina will reward anyone who takes a chance on her...one hundred fold in love and devotion. She is utterly grateful for any and all human attention. She is shy at first with strangers, but is nonreactive and warms quickly to human touch.

We'd like to see Tina join an adult household that will give her plenty of exercise and a healthy diet rich in quality protein and omega fats. We do not think she is a good fit for busy families with small children who may overwhelm her. We have not observed any aggressive or snarky tendencies, but she seems to be more relaxed in a calm, Zen type environment, with gentle, laid back folks.

Tina is in excellent health. She has reached a healthy weight and has just been spayed. She has been vaccinated for rabies, parvo, distemper and bordatella. She has been microchipped and de-wormed and has tested negative for heartworm, lyme, earlichia and anaplasmosis.
