TIGGER

Our darling little Tigger is a pint sized ball of energy! Eight years old, Tigger is an active little guy who shows no signs of slowing down. This tiny Papillon/Chihuahua mix found himself incarcerated in NYC ACC, after his lackluster owners dumped him off in a high-kill city facility. Poor Tigger became very nervous and fearful in the shelter environment, and was transferred to our Rescue, so that we could allow him to relax in a comfortable foster home environment.

Tigger is an adorable little guy and weighs only 9 pounds. He has the typical Papillon physique, with the plume tail arched over his spine, and a long, silky tri-color coat. His coat is easy to maintain, but requires brushing multiple times a week and possibly professional grooming a few times a year. As most long haired dogs do, Tigger does shed regularly, so adopters will need a really good lint brush.

Tigger has shown himself to be an amiable, affectionate fellow, who craves human attention. He is as friendly as can be with folks he knows, as well as strangers, when introduced properly. When he first came to us he was very fearful, but calmed down quickly with some very basic obedience training. He is responding nicely to his commands, and with calm leadership, he has turned into a perfect little gentleman.

Tigger is a family friendly little guy, although he may play favorites and cozy up to one or two family members while thumbing his nose at others. He has the air of a little Prince about him, and sometimes likes to test his boundaries. Tigger's adopters will need to demonstrate firm leadership and a willingness to make corrections when necessary. He would be best served in an active adult home, with adopters who enjoy a little tag along buddy on their adventures. Tigger is an energetic boy, and still has a bit of his puppy mojo. He needs at least a couple of brisk leash walks each day, as well as focused playtime to meet his mental and physical needs.

Tigger could easily join a multi dog home, with other small dogs. He has co-existed nicely with the unruly gaggle of Min Pins and Chihuahuas in his foster home. When left to his own devices, Tigger is not a nuisance barker, but will gleefully join the chorus of a multi-dog barking extravaganza, should the doorbell ring or during the drive-through at Dunkin Donuts.

Tigger is house trained and crate trained, and can easily be persuaded to use a wee wee pad in inclement weather. Adopters should expect to troubleshoot the occasional accident that will inevitably occur during his transition to a new home. He is in optimal health, and has been recently neutered. He has been vaccinated for rabies, DHLPPC (distemper, hepatitis, leptospirosis parvo, parainfluenza and coronavirus), and canine flu. He has been boostered as needed. He has had the 4dx test, and is negative for heartworm, lyme, earlichia and anaplasmosis. He has been dewormed, and has been on heartworm and flea/tick prevention.
