STELLAStella is one bonanza of a dog. This stunning 11 month old Basengi/Shiba Inu mix has stolen our hearts. She was evicted from her home -- along with her owner -- and found herself in a busy city shelter system, where she became quite frightened and withdrawn. |
Shortly after joining her new foster home, she blossomed beautifully into a happy-go-lucky pup, who loves to play! Stella loves everyone, although she can be shy on first meeting. She would make a wonderful family dog because she gives everybody equal attention, and seems to enjoy kids, dogs and can tolerate cats. |
Stella has great house manners and is pretty laid back for a puppy. She has not shown any destructive tendencies, although adopters should anticipate that puppies do have this tendency and should provide lots of chew toys. She is housetrained and crate trained, but adopters will likely see an accident or two as Stella transitions to her forever home. |
At a healthy 37 pounds, Stella is a managable size, and she walks well on the leash. While she has not had any formal obedience work, she is an eager to please dog who will do well in classes or in daycare. We recommend that adopters invest the time in obedience work with Stella, and perhaps consider sport agility -- she would be a natural. |
Stella really enjoys car trips and is a calm passenger. She is not reactive to the usual triggers of gas and toll attendants. She is small enough to travel easily in any kind of vehicle. |
Stella is in excellent health and is spayed. She is up to date on routine shots and has been dewormed and microchipped. She has tested negative for Heartworm/Lyme/Earlichia/Anaplasmosis.
