SNOOKIE

Our sweet Snookie is a striking sight to behold, and it is a miracle that she is alive. Snookie came to us from NYC ACC, where her owners dumped her because they could not solve the riddle of her mysterious skin condition. She had lost chunks of hair and was covered with open, bloody sores. Snookie was quickly relegated to the euthanisia, at the age of five, because often Shelters don't have the resources to diagnose and treat.

Fortunately, Snookie was rerouted to our rescue for a second chance. After clearing up flea dermatitis and infection, and changing her diet to grain free, high quality protein kibble, we saw an immense improvement, with some hair regrowth. Still, Snookie seemed to have ongoing inflammation in her ears and on some spots along her spine. So we did simple allergy testing and discovered a list of things, environmental and dietary, that do not agree with her.

Now, with dietary modifications and an ongoing 1/2 pill daily, we have maintained Snookie's health, and have eliminated allergic response. This simple regimen has saved her life. We've given Snookie a second chance at life, and now it's her turn for a second chance at love.

Snookie would be a trancendent "feel good" choice for that extra special caretaker, who is moved by her story and willing to commit to a simple ongoing treatment plan. Snookie's limited ingredient food is easily available (and delivered for free) on Amazon, and her daily 1/2 pill costs less than a doggie vitamin. We have taken all the guesswork and expense out of her healthcare going forward.

Gorgeous Snookie is a medium sized dog who weighs 55 pounds, and appears to be a mix of American Pitbull Terrier and Dalmatian. She has a short, manageable white coat with bold black patches, and some black speckling on her legs. Snookie is calm and laid-back for her breed mix, and is very gentle and friendly. She has moderate energy the requires at least one to two spirited leash walks daily. She would be the ideal walking companion.

Snookie is extremely sociable and craves human touch and attention. She is extraordinarily loving and affectionate, and extremely patient with all kinds of touch. Despite her long-term skin discomfort, Snookie has never snapped or appeared fearful or intolerant of touch in any way. She is an absolute joy and would be the great love of her adopter's life.

Snookie seems to have a calm temperament and can be shy at first, but warms up very quickly. She could easily join a multi-dog home, with other easy going dogs, who would not overpower her chill vibe. Snookie could interact well with older children, who are accustomed to respecting a dog's space. She could join either an adult home, or she could blend into an active family, if the lifestyle permits focus on her. We don't want to see Snookie become overlooked in a busy, hectic home.

Snookie has great house manners and is house trained and crate trained. Adopters should expect to troubleshoot the occasional accident that will inevitably occur during her transition to a new home. She is in optimal health, and at an ideal lean body weight. Snookie is spayed and has been vaccinated for rabies, DHLPPC (distemper, hepatitis, leptospirosis parvo, parainfluenza and coronavirus), and canine flu. She has been boostered as needed. She has tested negative for Heartworm, Lyme, Ehrlichia and Anaplasmosis. She has been dewormed.
