Our pup Sirius is a handsome boy that we think may be a mix of Hounds. His Mama, Enjolie was found as a country stray in North Carolina, where she spent a few days in an underfunded rural shelter. Despite a massive push to transport Enjolie to our Canterbury, CT Rescue before her whelping date, Enjolie had 9 puppies in the Shelter on 2/24/24.

Enjolie has a gentle temperament and outgoing personality that she has passed on to her adorable puppies. She appears to be an American Foxhound, and her puppies look like tricolor Hound mixes. Puppies are likely to be large dogs, 40-50 pounds.

Now 13 weeks old, Sirius is a total sweetheart with a neutral temperament. He loves all people and has sailed through the Rescue process with a healthy curiosity about new people and situations. Sirius plays gently with other dogs, and would thrive in a multi-dog home, with other gentle, playful dogs.

As working breeds, Hounds need a good deal of exercise and mental stimulation to maintain good behavior. Sirius does not have over the top puppy energy, but he does need a couple brisk leash walks each day to tire him out.

Sirius would be an excellent choice for an experienced puppy-savvy adopter, willing to commit to ongoing training and socialization. He would do well with an active couple or family with older kids, who can play gently with a young dog. We think Sirius could be easily raised with cats.

So far we have seen a sweet personality and balanced temperament in Sirius and we seek an adopter willing to raise him as a Canine Good Citizen. He is in excellent health, and has been vaccinated as appropriate for his age.

Sirius and his siblings are ready to go to their new homes.  If you are interested in Sirius, please write to Angelsfrgod@aol.com or call/text Denise at 860-908-9738 for more info.
