SASKIABoy, talk about your breed standard! Saskia exemplifies the absolute best qualities of the American Eskimo breed. In appearance and temperament, she is truly flawless. Saskia's lineage can be traced to a well known Virginia breeder, and the coat and stance are beautiful to behold. |
Saskia came to us with her housemate, Pooka, from a young couple who became overwhelmed with the obvious demands of raising children. Faced with the exhausting task of raising a young toddler and newborn, there was not time to focus on the dogs. So, the Eskie girls were relegated to the basement, where their family interaction stopped as focus shifted to the children. As would be expected, the dogs' behavior became frantic as their connection to family was severed, and they did not receive proper exercise. |
Saskia is now in foster care, where she is relishing the focus and attention of her foster mom, Jan. She has an exemplary temperament: great with kids, other dogs and strangers. She would make an excellent family dog. I think this beauty is capable of providing adopters with that elusive "Disney" moment that so few rescue dogs can offer. Saskia is an excellent candidate for obedience, agility or even therapy work, if adopters are inclined to pursue those activities. She has excellent house manners, is house trained and crate trained, and travels beautifully in the car. |
Four years old, Saskia is a robust standard Eskie, weighing about 30 pounds. She is in excellent health, completely vetted and recently groomed. Saskia is spayed. She has been vaccinated for rabies/parvo, and has tested negative for heartworm/lyme/earlichia/anaplasmosis. . |
