SALLY

Mustang Sally is a peach of a girl. This stunning two year old Rottweiler/Doberman Pinscher mix has stolen our hearts with her calm, gentle presence. She was found in the mean streets of a congested urban locale, foraging for food during our last Arctic blast. Animal Control officers coaxed her into shelter, and she took up residence in the city pound.

When Sally's foster Dad spotted her big brown eyes looking up at him through the steel cage on one of our shelter visits, he was moved to take her for a walk. Once outside, Sally brightened up, and we knew she was coming home with us. Sally is an absolute loving, joyful presence, who bonds quickly and steadfastly to her person.

Sally appears to be primarily of Rottweiler descent. She has the large, broad bone structure and head that are distinctive in this powerful breed. We also see a dab of Dobie in her, that seems to thin her out a bit. Sally's 67 pounds is her ideal weight; she should maintain healthy weight to insure longevity. Her coat is a beautiful black and tan, with a lustrous wave to it. She is a real beauty, to be sure.

Sally would be a good choice for a moderately active family and ideal for older, dog savvy kids. She is not a high energy dog, but rather a slow, lumbering soul, who would do well with a couple brisk leash walks each day. She is an extremely calm, submissive dog, and she enjoys her leisurely naps by the fire. Sally does not play favorites and would relish the attention of all family members. She has integrated beautifully into her busy foster home and enjoys the company of other calm, neutral temperament dogs and cats.

Sally has excellent house manners and is also nicely crate trained, giving adopters many options for her care. She is house trained, although knowledgeable dog owners will expect the occasional accident during the transition to a forever home.

Sally loves to travel and enjoys her big car rides. She sometimes likes to ride in the front seat, in her passenger's lap, so adopters might want to use a safety seat belt to root her to her own seat. She is mild mannered and well behaved enough to go anywhere. Sally's obedience work has been neglected, but she is a willing pupil and will work for either praise or treats. We recommend formal obedience work to help Sally reach her true potential.

Sally is in excellent health. She has been fully vet checked and spayed. She has been vaccinated for rabies, parvo, distemper, and bordatella. She has been microchipped and de-wormed. Sally has tested negative for heartworm/lyme/earlichia/anaplasmosis.
