ROCKY

Our Rocky is a Social Media Superstar. His dramatic story touched alot of hearts, and the outpouring of support was inspiring. Seems that as a NYC city stray, Rocky had taken up residence in a random car, in a random garage lot, and lived there for several months! Rocky became a neighborhood celebrity, as folks came together to feed and care for the "Car Dog." Finally as Winter weather began to loom large, local police brought Rocky to NYCACC to protect him from harsh weather.

Not even the shelter intake process could dampen Rocky's jovial spirit. While initially skeptical of his new surroundings, Rocky adapted quickly, and made new friends at every turn. Finally, he was redirected to us, so that we could put some polish on his manners, and prepare him for a new life.

Rocky has the bouyant good nature that attracts Bully breed folks to these lovable high energy scamps. No other dog group has been so overbred, mishandled and maligned as the Bullies, and we are thrilled to have Rocky with us, at this young stage of his life, so that we can find his forever home.

Rocky is a young, robust dog, who is just two years old. He appears to be largely Staffordshire Terrier due to his girth and height. He is a large strong dog at 56 pounds, with a lean, muscular physique, and floppy half mast ears. He has a large block head, with a broad skull that suggests the Staffordshire Terrier DNA. His body is gray, with white markings, and he has one small gray patch on his forehead, that his Internet fans refer to as the "angel's kiss." Rocky truly represents the best of beauty and temperament in in the Staffie breed. He has charmed everyone he has met, and his professional behavior evaluations have been exemplary.

Rocky would be a fantastic choice for a Bully breed lover, who is willing to continue the exercise and obedience regimen that has fostered such great behavior so far. Rocky is high energy, and needs vigorous exercise. He is having a blast this spring: by hiking with him in the woods, we have managed to tire him out! Rocky loves to be on the go: the more action, the better. A bored, frustrated Bully will make mischief, to be sure, but in the hands of dedicated breed enthusiasts, who rejoice in their high energy companions, Bullies are Man's devoted BFFs.

Rocky is an ideal choice for an active single or couple. He is extremely friendly, and good with strangers, but he would likely overpower young toddlers. We haven't had him around cats, but he loves other well mannered dogs. He loves to play with other dogs matched to him for size and energy level, and would be a great companion to another well-trained dog.

Rocky has excelled at his obedience training and is extremely food motivated. He responds well to positive reinforcement training, and has learned all of his commands, so that adopters will be able to get up to speed with him quickly. He has great house manners and is house trained and crate trained. Adopters will need to forgive the occasional accident that might occur as Rocky transitions to a new potty routine, in a new home.

Rocky has been thoroughly vetted, He has been vaccinated for rabies, DHLPPC (distemper, hepatitis, leptospirosis, parvo and parainfluenza, coronavirus), and has been boostered as needed. He has had the 4dx test, and is negative for heartworm, lyme, earlichia and anaplasmosis. He has been dewormed, and microchipped.
