REXOur handsome Rex is a lovely, gentle older puppy, who has not seen very much of the world in his short life. He was found as a country stray by Greene County Animal Control Officers in North Carolina. When no owner claimed Rex, he was transferred to our Connecticut Rescue. |
Rex is an outgoing, friendly dog, who loves people and other dogs. This beautiful boy warms up quickly to a loving, gentle touch. He could easily join an active family with older kids, but he would also thrive in an adult home, or with recent retirees, who can put their dog on center stage in their lives. |
Rex appears to be a Lemon Treeing Walker Hound, and he lives up to their lovable reputation. One and a half years old, he is a large dog, at a lean weight of 55 pounds, although he could fill out to 60 pounds and still be within normal weight range. His short, flat tri-colored coat is largely beige with black and white markings. |
Rex also needs a fair amount of exercise and focused playtime so that he does not become bored and get into mischief. His confidence level would benefit greatly from ongoing obedience training, which is helpful in providing additional mental stimulation. He is slowly learning his commands, although he can become distracted easily. He is very treat motivated and responds well to Positive Reinforcement and Leadership techniques, and seems to enjoy his training sessions. |
Rex has good house manners, and is mostly house trained and crate trained. Adopters should expect to troubleshoot the occasional accident that will inevitably occur during his transition to a new home. He has been neutered, and has received routine vaccinations and health screenings. |
