PUGGYWhat a cutie pie is our Puggy! He was a ramblin', travelin' boy, when he was snagged by the dogcatcher and plopped into the dog pound in New York. Puggy made a delightful impression in the shelter, and was put up for adoption. Then he goofed and snapped at one of the volunteers in a squabble over a dog treat. Puggy was a little over eager since he has obviously missed a few meals while on the lam. |
Our Puglicious is in dire need of a nutritional makeover. One year old, he is dreadfully emaciated and his coat shows the signs of malnutrition. Adopters will need to continue Puggy on a high quality diet rich in protein and omega fats to restore his coat and assure his good health and longevity going forward. |
Puggy is a splendid mix of two of the great terrier breeds: the Jack Russell and the Rat Terrier. This pretty boy has a soulful face, with striking black, tan and white markings. He weighs in at 11 pounds, but is sadly underweight. Puggy's ideal weight would be15 pounds. He is a sprightly, energetic boy, who is friendly and engaging with everyone he meets. |
The only caution with Puggy is the overzealous attitude toward food, which should subside as he gets used to receiving regular meals. We are instituting some behavior modification techniques which should teach him better table manners. The ideal adopters for Puggy would be savvy Terrier people, preferably folks who have dealt with the high energy Jack or Rat varieties. Puggy has had no obedience work, but is quick to learn: we have already taught him to sit. He is eager to please, quick to bond, and extremely receptive to human attention. Nonetheless, we'd like to steer clear of small children in his new home. Puggy does very well with other dogs and so far has not had a problem with cats. |
Puggy is house trained, and crate trained. He walks well on the leash and is an excellent car passenger. He would make an ideal companion dog for the moderate to high energy adopter, who has the time to focus on his obedience work. Formal obedience training would be a plus for Puggy. Puggy is in excellent health. He is neutered, up to date on routine shots: rabies, parvo/distemper/bordatella, and is dewormed and microchipped. He has tested negative for heartworm/lyme/earlichia/anaplasmosis.
