ADOPTED

PLUTO

Our handsome boy, Pluto, has just joined our rescue, after his underwhelming owner abandoned him in the high kill NYC ACC, where he caught a nasty cold that greenlighted him to the euthanasia list. Just 8 years old, Pluto's ticket was punched!

When we saw Pluto's shelter mugshot, we were puzzled by his breed mix. He appears to be a good sized Miniature Pinscher, with a statuesque, leggy stance. He has natural ears and tail, and his coat is gray with brown " knee socks." We suspect a smidge of Italian Greyhound in his DNA to explain his height and color pattern. At 15 pounds, Pluto is a small dog, but gives the impression of a much larger one. Still, he can fulfill his Min Pin responsibility as lap dog and bed snuggler.

Pluto has a relatively calm demeanor for this high energy breed, and would be a good choice for a first time Min Pin, or dog, owner. As a laid back, moderate energy dog, Pluto requires a couple of brisk leash walks daily, but settles down quickly to watch TV or nap by the fire. Pluto would be an ideal companion to a single or couple and could adapt to apartment living, without rousting the neighbors with nusiance barking. He is sociable to other dogs, and could join a multi-dog or senior dog home, where the energy is low key. Pluto would compliment most dog or cat chemistries.

Pluto has great house manners and is house trained, and crate trained. Adopters should expect the occasional accident to occur as Pluto adjusts to his new routine. He is definitely going to need a thick, heavy-duty winter coat, if he is expected to traverse the elements this winter.

Pluto appears to be well cared for: his skin and coat are soft and lustrous, and his teeth and gums are in good shape for an adult dog. He has just had a full dental cleaning. A consistent dental care plan will go a long way to avoid future dental cleanings and extractions. Pluto is in excellent health and has been neutered. He has been vaccinated for Rabies, DHLPPC (distemper, hepatitis, leptospirosis, parvo, parainfluenza and coronavirus). He has had the 4dx test, and is negative for heartworm, lyme, earlichia and anaplasmosis. He has been dewormed.
