PENNY

Our Magnificent Penny is a great beauty who just lost her home. Penny's owners were unable to take her along during their recent change of residence, and left her behind in NYCACC. Clearly the abandonment has broken her heart. Penny seems shy at first, and she was woefully unprepared to handle such a dramatic lifestyle change. At just 4 years old, Penny begins the rescue process.

Penny had a very tough time in the chaotic shelter environment. Her stress level was through the roof, and she was unable to relax enough to impress Evaluators who were determining her fate. We invited Penny to our place in Connecticut, so that we could give her some space to decompress, and measure how quickly she would return to normal with patient gentle handling.

We were thrilled when Penny came out of her shell. She has blossomed beautifully in foster care. She is beloved by everyone, and has won all of our hearts. Since she was a young pup, Penny had lived happily in a family home with young children, but at times they overwhelmed her. We feel that it's time for her to enjoy an adult home with patient, experienced Rottie people, who will go slow with her, as she adjusts to yet another dramatic change.

Penny is a magnificent purebred Rottweiler, with all the classic breed characteristics that Rottie folks people admire. She's possibly had a few litters, and appears slightly underweight at 77 pounds. She could easily reach 85 to 90 pounds through healthy diet and exercise. She has the quintessential Rottie chill vibe, and loves to settle down and relax with her family.

Penny could easily join a multi-dog home with one or two calm, well behaved dogs. She has a bit of a maternal vibe to her dog interactions, and she can become impatient with over-exuberant puppy type antics. Her best buddy right now is a grand male Rottweiler, Lucio, and the two are quite a lovely pair. Dog chemistry is important with Penny, and we'd like to see her settle in with a laid-back resident dog.

Penny craves the human love and attention that the shelter process has denied her. She absolutely loves people, and melts right into the warmest of doggie hugs. She would love to keep quiet company with her adult adopters, napping quietly by the fire and sharing a brisk evening constitutional. Penny has a loving, gentle spirit that feeds on positive human interaction.

Penny is a sensitive, mild mannered girl who looks to her handler for direction. She is a fantastic candidate for obedience training, and already knows some commands. She's very eager to please and would be a standout in the Canine Good Citizen program. We encourage adopters to follow through with the CGC program and give Penny a life rich in diverse experiences.

Penny is in excellent health and has been spayed. She has been vaccinated for Rabies and DHLPPC (distemper, hepatitis, leptospirosis, parvo, parainfluenza and coronavirus). She has had the 4dx test, and is negative for heartworm, lyme, earlichia. She has been microchipped and dewormed.
