ADOPTED

OLIVER

Our handsome boy, Oliver needs a big-hearted adopter to care for his little heart. Our Vet noted a significant heart murmur in Oliver which prompted a complete cardiac workup. The upshot is that he has a heart flutter that is treated with minimal medication each month. Oliver's prognosis is great, provided his adopter will continue his med regimen and provide high-quality nutrition and additional vitamins and omega fats. Just 7 years old, Oliver is in good shape and has overcome the malnutrition that plagued him when he arrived. He has had extensive blood work done which will provide his adopter with good baseline values. All the diagnostics are done, and the regimen is simple. He takes his medication easily.

Oliver is an adorable character who would charm any adopter. He recently joined us from an overcrowded animal control facility, after the little dear had been found alone, foraging for food on the city streets. Although Oliver received excellent behavior evaluations, he seemed to show signs of depression as he entered shelter life. He was overwhelmed in a high-stress environment, and was excluded from the adoption program due to his heart murmur. In a short time, he caught the shelter kennel cough and was relegated to the euthanasia list. We are happy that our shelter contacts rerouted him to our Rescue.

Oliver is a tiny boy who weighs just 6 pounds. He is a pint-sized Miniature Pinscher, with a hint of Chihuahua, with natural ears and tail. Oliver's short flat coat is classic Min Pin black and tan, with a smattering of gray on his muzzle that reveals his approximate 7 years of age. We think this extremely sweet heart throb deserves a better life then the doom-and-gloom he had been facing. This boy was born to be schlepped around in a cashmere-lined Hermes satchel.

We think that Oliver would most enjoy a quiet lifestyle with an adult single or couple, who love lap dog companionship. Oliver tends to shut down in the face of chaos, and would not be a good fit for a busy family bursting with kids. He is a moderate to low energy dog, and likes to relax by the fire or nap on his person's lap during TV or Book time. He's relatively quiet for a Min Pin, and would be the perfect apartment dog. He could easily join a multi-dog home with one or two other laid back dogs or cats, but would be overwhelmed by large, high energy dogs. He has a calm vibe, and could be a comforting companion to a senior dog, who recently lost a beloved house mate.

Oliver has good house manners, and is house trained, crate trained and can easily be persuaded to use a wee wee pad in the inclement weather. Adopters should expect to troubleshoot the occasional accident that will inevitably occur during his transition to a new home.

Oliver is in excellent health, and is at a lean body weight. He is recently neutered. He has been vaccinated for Rabies, DHLPPC (distemper, hepatitis, leptospirosis, parvo, parainfluenza and coronavirus), He has been boostered as needed. He has had the 4dx test: negative for heartworm, lyme, earlichia and anaplasmosis. He has been dewormed, and microchipped. He has been on appropriate heartworm and flea/tick preventatives.
