ADOPTED

NORMA

Our feisty Norma joined our rescue late last year, after her recent adopters found her to be overwhelmed and stressed by their resident Great Danes. She had traveled north via a southern Rescue, that was desperately trying make a dent in the the vast overpopulation problem south of the Mason-Dixon line.

It's a shocker that a petite cutie like Norma, should wind up homeless and alone in her golden years. Nine years young, she has alot of love left to give. Rescue folks pegged her as a Rat Terrier mix, but her sparse, wiry coat suggests a bit of the Chinese Crested Dog.

Norma is somewhat ladylike for a Rat Terrier. She doesn't have the over-the-top frantic energy that we see in some of her compatriots. Instead, she approaches cautiously, and waits for an invitation to smother her person with kisses! She is an affectionate girl, who bonds quickly, once she trusts.

Norma has the characteristic Rat Terrier athletic physique, although she has somewhat petite features for the breed, and is a pint sized, willowy dog at 9 pounds. Her short, wiry coat is white with strategically placed patches of black patches. She is easy to groom, and tolerates the bath process well.

Norma would be a great choice for an active single or couple who enjoy an energetic Terrier type dog. She would be an enthusiastic companion on walks or hikes, and she loves to travel and be part of the action. Norma could also join an active family with older kids, as long as everyone can commit to her training and exercise schedule. The key to Norma is adequate exercise and mental stimulation to keep her from wallowing in the boredom and frustration that leads to behavior problems.

Norma is a social girl, and could easily join a home with other well trained, mild mannered dogs. We have not exposed her to cats, but the terrier-cat vibe is a well known dicey commodity. She has begun to grasp the basics of leadership and obedience work, and has passed a few of the Canine Good Citizen tests. Norma has the potential to excel in this program.

Norma is in excellent health, and has been recently spayed. She has been vaccinated for rabies and DHLPPc (distemper, hepatitis, leptospirosis, parvo, parainfluenza and coronavirus). She has had the 4dx test, and is negative for heartworm, lyme, earlichia and anaplasmosis. She has been microchipped and dewormed.
