KILOWATT

Our Impish Kilowatt is the brightest bulb that we have in our rescue right now. With his gregarious charm, this sturdy and stocky, 16 pound Chihuahua Pug mix is a tailor made companion for just about any kind of adopter.

The "Chug" is quickly becoming one of the most popular of the new designer breeds. It seems that a healthy dose of Pug DNA adds a bit of whimsy and a sense of humor to just about any breed. And, surely, the Chihuahua could benefit from a giggle or two. They take themselves far too seriously!

Just 6 years old, Kilowatt has experienced unspeakable betrayal, by a trusted owner, who abandoned him to an uncertain fate in a big city Animal Control facility. In this "Gilded Age" of rescue, owners can find better options than a high kill facility for their devoted companions.

The amazing thing about Kilowatt is that he sashayed through this harrowing experience with a goofy grin and a hug for everybody he met. He earned wonderful behavior ratings in the shelter and quickly became a staff and volunteer favorite.

Kilowatt is a real cutie. His all black coat is splattered with a shock of white on his chest, and muzzle, as though he stuck his little toe in an electric socket. He has the comical look of perpetual surprise, and wisdom far beyond his young 6 years. Kilowatt is always sporting a mischievious twinkle in his eyes, but his good nature restrains him from getting into too much trouble.

Kilowatt has the characteristic Chihuahua apple head, with some Pug facial features, but he has a well formed snout, so that he is not at risk for the breathing issues that plague pure bred Pugs. Kilowatt Is a stocky, muscular dog who has a tendency to snack on a few too many goodies. Adopters will need to watch his weight and keep him on a healthy grain free diet, rich in omega fats.

Kilowatt has a fantastic, friendly temperament. He loves everyone, although toddler energy may confuse him. He would be fine with older, dog savvy kids, other dogs, and cats. Kilowatt has the kind of positive vibe that other dogs like. He is beloved in his foster home by humans and dogs alike.

Kilowatt has good house manners and is crate trained and house trained. Adopters should expect an accident or two during his transition to a new home, and should reinforce good potty habits from the get go. He is easy to handle, and loves his leash walks and car rides. Kilowatt is the kind of dog whose friendly nature will make him a welcome guest in dog friendly venues.

Kilowatt is in excellent health and has been neutered. He is vaccinated for rabies, parvo, distemper and bordatella. He is microchipped and dewormed. He has tested negative for heartworm, lyme, earlichia and anaplasmosis.
