ADOPTED |
JIMMYOur boisterous cutie, Jimmy is a charismatic fellow, who has weathered the worst of betrayals. Only one and a half years old, Jimmy was unceremoniously dumped in the City Pound, after his puppy newness had worn off. Acquiring a puppy should always be a well thought out decision, yet is sometimes an impulse. Jimmy's rowdy behavior is consistent with clueless owners, who did nothing to develop his potential. Like many owner surrendered dogs, Jimmy went through severe shelter shock as he was processed through the system. Shelter life is no cakewalk for displaced dogs, and sometimes those betrayed by trusted owners seem to have a more difficult time adjusting than strays, who may be grateful for food and shelter. |
Jimmy did not respond well to his vet exam or a SAFER behavior test, as he displayed fearful behavior that excluded him from the Shelter adoption program. This frightened youngster needed a chance to decompress in foster care, so that we could fully assess his personality. Once he relaxed into his new environment, Jimmy became a happy-go-lucky boy, full of life and love. |
Shelter staff described Jimmy as a Beagle/Chihuahua mix. We are not seeing that combo! Weighing 13 pounds, Jimmy is most likely a Terrier mix of the Jack Russell and Rat varieties. He has confident, lovable Terrier traits, as well as that high energy level that Terrier lovers clamor for. He has none of the scent hound, or nervous Chihuahua tendencies that we often see in those breeds. |
Jimmy has a muscular, compact physique, with a smooth, tri-colored coat that requires minimal grooming. He is a fairly frisky pup, who needs lots of action to siphon off some of his energy, as well as a daily obedience and discipline ritual to stimulate his mind. Since Jimmy's former owner had neglected his training, he is a bit behind the learning curve. We have started from scratch with basic commands that Jimmy will need to achieve his Canine Good Citizen certification. Hopefully, Jimmy's adopters will continue him down that road. |
Jimmy would be the ideal activity companion to a single or couple who can give him a good walk or run everyday. Also, Jimmy could join an active family with older, patient kids, who are on the same page about working with a rescue dog. Obedience training will go a long way toward keeping Jimmy challenged, balanced and calm. Jimmy likes other dogs, and loves to play. He could easily join a multi-dog home, but his Terrier roots may give him the inclination to chase cats. Jimmy has excellent house manners and is house trained and crate trained. He travels well, and loves his big car rides. |
Jimmy is in great health and is neutered. He is vaccinated for heartworm, lyme, earlichia and anaplasmosis. If you are interested in Jimmy, please write to Denise@eskiesonline.com for an adoption application or call Denise at 720-903-0636 for more information. |
