JAXWe have always found Terrier folks to be a breed apart from the rest of us dog lovers. They are a passionate crowd with the patience of Job to rejoice in the hijinks of these tiny "terrors." Our Jax would thrill Terrier folks! He is the most adorable mix of at least a couple of Terrier breeds, and our guesses range from Yorkshire and Silky to Norwich or Border varieties. Jax has a unique look. While he resembles a Yorkie or Silky Terrier, his coat has the Norwich / Border Terrier wiry, rough texture with a soft facial fringe. His physique suggests the leggier Border Terrier or even the steamlined structure of the Manchester Terrier or Miniature Pinscher. His black and tan markings could come from almost any of these. Jax is a light weight, athletic dog, weighing in at only 10 pounds. |
Jax is a randy young puppy, only one year old, who has clearly flunked the K9 Emily Post course in manners! He is a rude houseguest, and he hogs the pillows and covers! Jax's favorite sleeping perch is on whichever pillow his foster Mom is using, and she frequently awakes to a Terrier behind in her face. And she loves him anyway. | ![]() |

All that is to say that Jax requires an adopter who is assertive enough to institute a training and discipline regime that will teach Jax that he can't run the show. He has proven to be somewhat of a bully in the dog pack, and the big 'uns just aren't having it! Jax is a pushy little Alpha wannabe, whose Napoleon Complex will get him into trouble with your neighbor's Rottweiler at the dog park. |
Ideally, Jax would probably be happiest as an only dog, but savvy dog people would be able to integrate him into a well run multi-dog household with solid obedience work. At such a young age, Jax has a great personility that will "wow" his adopter, but he has been allowed to run amuck thusfar in life. Exercise is also a key component to a happy Jax. He would shine with an active single or couple who enjoy vigorous walking, hiking or running. Although Jax seems less the high energy pup (he certainly is not over the top like the Jack Russell), than the nosy busybody type than needs mental action like focussed play or obedience drills. |

We don't think that Jax would fit into an active family, as he would likely play favorites. And, the family cat would put herself up for adoption 5 minutes after meeting Jax. For the right person, Jax will become the light of his/her life! He is so full of energy and love! Jax is in excellent health and is neutered. He is vaccinated for rabies, parvo, distemper, bordatella, and is microchipped and de-wormed. He has tested negative for heartworm, lyme, earlichia and anaplasmosis.
