HERCULES

Two years old, Darling Hercules found himself adrift in the sea of homeless dogs in residence at a large city animal control facility. Somebody has an ironic sense of humor to slap such a heroic moniker on this little cream puff. Maybe the name was intended to infuse him with a dose of chutzpah.

Hercules is a sweetie who could stand to build his confidence a bit. He will greet strangers with shy avoidance, but then he will warm quickly and bond strongly. Hercules has a small dose of separation anxiety when left completely alone, so he would do best in a home with another cat or dog to keep him company during the workday.

The best approach to building Hercules' confidence is continued obedience work. He is extremely eager to please, and responsive to positive rewards and leadership training techniques. Hercules has already grasped the basics and is well on his way to Canine Good Citizenship.

Hercules has a loving and sweet temperament. He is playful and perky once he warms up, and he enjoys the company of other dogs. He would be a good choice for a multi-dog family with older, patient kids, or he could be the ideal companion for a laidback lifestyle of a single or couple, who enjoy including their dog in daily activities.

As a mix of Pomeranian and American Eskimo, Hercules is a hearty dog, with a beautiful, long white coat, and caramel colored markings. As a Northern Breed dog, Hercules enjoys the outdoors and loves to travel. He is an excellent car passenger, and weighing only 10 pounds, he is tiny enough to ride comfortably under seat on a plane.

Hercules has excellent house manners and is house and crate trained. Adopters should expect the occasional accident that will occur during his transition to a new routine. He is in excellent health, and is neutered. He has been vaccinated for rabies, parvo, distemper, and has tested negative for heartworm, lyme, Earlichia and anaplasmosis.
