FRECKLESOur lovable Freckles is a force to be reckoned with! Just 8 months old, Freckles is paying her rescue dues and defying the odds! This happy-go-lucky American Staffordshire Terrier mix was found in Brooklyn, New York, as a homeless stray. Animal Control Officers brought her to NYC ACC, but sadly, nobody came to claim her. Despite great behavior evaluations, Freckles was booted out of the shelter adoption program, and was nearly euthanized, because she caught the shelter kennel cough. |
So, Freckles came to our rescue for a little TLC, and a crash course in basic manners. It became obvious to us that whoever owned Freckles did not make manners and obedience training top priority. As a strong Bully Breed pup, Freckles has the bouyant good nature and puppy vibe that requires alot of exercise and focused play to channel her puppy hijinks into positive behavior. |

Freckles has that dopey puppy personality that will tickle the fancy of an active family, with older kids, who are all on the same page about raising an older puppy. Freckles has that gangly look of young dog not yet in full command of her feet. Freckles already weighs 40 pounds, and could well reach 50 pounds as she approaches adolescence. She is a very strong dog, and adopters must be prepared to continue her socialization and obedience work. |
| The greatest challenge with Freckles, is shepherding her through thr puppy stage, and continuing her on a solid regimen of exercise and obedience. She is past the teething stage, and has not proven herself to be overly destructive, but folks who take on a young dog, must be prepared to puppy proof the premises and have realistic expectations of her limitations as far as house training and unsupervised time at home alone. |  |

Freckles is extremely smart, and has begun to grasp the concepts of basic obedience training. She is a dog who could go the full route to Canine Good Citizenship certification, and become a well trained family member, who is welcomed everywhere. Her temperament is outstanding, and she is extremely friendly to everyone she meets. Freckles has a high energy level and loves to play rough. She could join a multi-dog home, but must be matched with a dog who can tolerate a lot of rough play without escalating. We don't think Freckles would be a good candidate for a feline home. |
Freckles has decent house manners for a youngster, and is mostly house trained and nicely crate trained. Adopters must expect to finetune her potty routine, as she transitions to his new home. Freckles is in excellent health, and has been spayed. She had one of the best Vet reactions of any dog we've had recently, as she cajoled her way through the poke and prod routine. She has been vaccinated for rabies and DA2PP (distemper, hepatitis, leptospirosis, parvo, parainfluenza, and coronavirus). She has had the 4dx test, and is negative for heartworm, lyme, earlichia and anaplasmosis. She has been dewormed and microchipped.
