DUNCANWow, it's another Jack attack! Every time we place a Jack Russell or Parson Russell Terrier, we breathe a sigh of relief. And, sometimes we mutter under our breath "never again". And yet, we can't resist the Jacks or the Jills. We find ourselves inexplicably drawn to their feisty nature and high energy. We completely understand the JRT enthusiast's passion for this comical breed. And, we are seeking seasoned JRT folks now for our dynamic duo, Debbie and Duncan. Our newest JRT houseguests are a pair of animated two-year-old Jack or Parson Russell Terriers, who were found roaming the city streets together, most likely having escaped from their owners yard. JRT's typically have a lot of ingenuity and can sometimes engineer their way out of an haphazardly fenced in yard.

After their stray hold was off, and no owners came to claim them, Debbie and Duncan were released to our care, so that we could begin the process of finding them permanent homes. These dogs clearly love each other and are extremely compatible so they would make a great choice for that brave soul who would like to adopt a pair of dogs. However, we are socializing Debbie and Duncan with other dogs so that they can't be adapted separately as well. While both dogs have the high energy level that we expect from JRT's, Debbie seems to be a bit more animated and quick to trust strangers. |
Duncan, on the other hand, is a bit more reserved at first and has a longer warm up time. He has a slight edge to his behavior during stressful situations like visiting the vet or the groomer but he is responding well in foster care and should develop nicely with continued socializing. Debbie and Duncan are extremely high energy dogs, and would do well with the active single or couple who enjoy hiking, running, camping, or any other high-energy lifestyle activity that would siphon off some of their energy. Once Debbie and Duncan are tired out, the training can begin! Clearly, these pups did not come from a home where training was a priority, and neither shows any evidence of formal obedience or leadership work. We recommend that adopters put in the time necessary to pursue formal obedience training with Debbie and Duncan, to ensure that they develop into well behaved companion dogs. |

Debbie and Duncan are very good with other dogs, and each could easily adapt to a multi-dog home. By nature, JRT's have a high prey drive and are not the best choice for living with cats. They have pretty good house manners and are house trained and crate trained. However, adopters will expect the occasional accident to occur while rescue dogs are settling into their new environment and adapting to their new routines. Duncan is in excellent health, has been neutered and vaccinated for rabies, parvo, and distemper. He has tested negative for heartworm/lyme/earlichia/anaplasmosis. If you are interested in adopting Duncan, please write to Denise@EskiesOnline.com or call denise at 720-903-0636 for more information. |
