DEUCE

Our Deuce is one cool little dude! Three years old, he lost his home because his owner couldn't find dog friendly housing. Confidentially, Deuce ain't buyin' that sob story. He found himself stranded in a citywide power outage during Hurricane Sandy, in a large animal control facility that was understaffed because shelter workers had no transportation to work. What a pickle!

When the lights came back on, Deuce was rarin' to blow that popstand! A cute mix of Toy Fox Terrier and Chihuahua, Deuce is a delightful little scamp. He is a lively, spirited little boy, who is full of personality. He is generally good natured, but is quick to give the stink eye to dogs much larger and more menacing than he is. Deuce has the sort of Napoleon Complex that, if not kept in check, can get him into trouble with the Neighborhood Rottweiller.

Deuce is a tiny guy weighing a mere nine pounds. He has the bravado of a much larger dog, and will quickly warn strangers to approach with caution! Once Deuce warms up, he is a total love and is content to travel by your side or nap in your lap. He loves attention and affection, and would be the ideal buddy for an active single or couple. We'd like to steer clear of kids in Deuce's home because he is likely to play favorites and disappoint the youngsters by ignoring them. Deuce could coexist with other dogs and cats who could take this petite Napoleon with a grain of salt. He could easily antagonize larger, bully dogs who don't have a sense of humor.

Deuce has excellent house manners and is housetrained but adopters must forgive the occasional accident as he transitions to a new schedule. He is crate trained, although he may pitch a fit if ignored for too long. All in all, Deuce is a spunky little guy who will thrive with lots of love, and a good measure of leadership and obedience training. Deuce's former owner fell short in that department.

Deuce is in excellent health and has been neutered. He has been vaccinated for rabies, parvo, distemperand bordatella, and has been microchipped and de-wormed. He has tested negative for heartworm, lyme, earlichia and anaplasmosis.
