COCO PUFFS

Pug DNA seems to be sprouting up in the strangest places. We have met Puggles and Chugs, who are now mainstream designer dogs, and we've seen less comely combinations, like the Pugimo. And now, in our Coco Puffs, we have the creative pairing of Pug and Dachshund, a "Daug!"

Such creativity, or accidental happenstance, has produced a mighty cute, lovable little scamp. Coco Puffs recently came to us from an overcrowded animal control facility, after spending a few days in a home with the Good Samaritan who took him in. About four years old, Coco Puffs finds himself in Rescue, awaiting a second chance at the good life.

The melding of these two breeds seems to have produced a plucky, confident little dog. He has all of the Pug geniality, blended with the Doxie's clever tenacity. Coco Puffs is quite the character, and he has completely charmed his foster mom. He can be a bit reserved at first meeting, but after a short while, he melts into his handlers arms for hugs and kisses.

Coco Puffs clearly has the goofy Pug Mug, that inspires a doubletake and ear to ear grin. He is small, yet well-muscled dog weighing 16 pounds. His physique is thoroughly Doxie, with the telltale elongated spine, short legs and paddle feet. His rich reddish brown coat is short and requires minimal grooming. He has dark brown markings on his ears and muzzle. This crossbreeding has produced a strong, robust physical structure that is free of the back and breathing issues that plague both purebreds.

Coco Puffs would be a good choice for an moderately active single or couple who enjoy a fiesty, pint sized companion. He does not require alot of exercise, but should be leashwalked two to three times daily at a leisurely pace. Coco Puffs does require some mental stimulation to appease his Doxie nature, so formal obedience and leadership training should be on the agenda.

Coco Puffs could also join a family with older kids and other dogs. He is a pretty friendly boy, who enjoys alot of attention once he warms up. Coco Puffs has great house manners and is house trained and crate trained. He is a companion dog, and likes to be front and center with his people. He will become fussy in his crate if left alone too long. We expect adopters to troubleshoot the occasional accident that may occur in Coco Puff's transition.

Coco Puffs has been neutered, and has been vaccinated for Rabies and DHLPPC (distemper, hepatitis, leptospirosis, parvo, parainfluenza and coronavirus. He has had the 4snap test, and is negative for heartworm, lyme, earlichia and anaplasmosis.
