CHICOChico is one of those picture perfect, irreverent, pint-sized Princes that will bring seasoned Terrier afficionados to their knees! He came to us through our Foster Mom, Chris, who moonlights at PetSmart. Chico's owners had contacted their Petsmart Groomer, who in turn contacted Chris, who referred them to us. It seemed clear that the well-intentioned senior couple were ill-equipped to handle an energetic two year old Terrier. |
As devilishly cute as they are, the Terrier vibe is not for everyone. High energy and intensity are key qualities in just about every Terrier that we've ever met! And yet, these tiny Terrors are beloved by multitudes of folks, despite their outlandish antics. Small Terrier lovers will swoon over this ten pounder's charming demeanor. He appears to be a blonde Yorkshire - Silky Terrier mix, and is quite solidly built. He has a soft, wiry coat with silver shading, that may require regular grooming depending on his Adopter's aesthetics. Chico is a striking dog, with crisp, well-defined Terrier features. |

Chico would be a great addition to an adult home, comfortable with the intense, tenacious Terrier energy. He is outgoing and friendly with his immediate family, but will show some timid suspicion of strangers. Chico is certainly a pint-size Alphaboy, who needs an Alpha leader, willing to make the proper corrections. He will readily overrule the tentative, laid back handler, and definitely will try to rule the roost, if he is not taught to respect boundries. |
| Chico is a peppy boy, who needs a couple of brisk daily leash walks, as well as lots of attention and focused playtime. He is a perky little spitfire, who lights up the room when he enters, and can be the ultimate velcro dog. Chico is eager to follow a strong pack leader, and follows his Foster Dad everywhere he goes. He has responded well to basic obedience techniques, and knows most of his commands. He will need ongoing socializing and obedience training to compensate for his lack of profound leadership during his social development period. |  |

We would like to see Chico in the hands of experienced Terrier folks, familiar with small Terrier breeds, and committed to following through on obedience and Canine Good Citizen Training, using both leadership and positive reinforcement techniques. Chico needs adopters willing to continue his training, and help him realize his amazing potential. Chico is typical Terrier, in that he needs both mental stimulation and physical activity to keep him calm and balanced. |
Chico is in excellent health, and has been neutered. He has been vaccinated for Rabies and DHLPPC (distemper, hepatitis, leptospirosis, parvo and parainfluenza and coronavirus). He has had the 4dx test, and is negative for heartworm, lyme, earlichia and anaplasmosis. He has been microchipped and dewormed.
