BUSTER KEATONWow! Our Buster Keaton has the movie star good looks that take our collective breath away. This stunning one year old boy just recently joined our rescue after doin' time in the big City pound. Buster Keaton had been dumped by his lackluster owners, who couldn't be bothered to give a reason or complete the owner dump questionaire. Shelter staff and volunteers were enamored with Buster Keaton from the get-go. He seemed unphased by the cold, harsh shelter process, and made many friends along the way. Buster quickly became a volunteer favorite, and his behavior evaluations were glowing. |
We think Buster is a creative mix of Border Collie, or some variety of sheep dog, and German Shepherd. He is a medium sized dog, weighing 38 pounds, and seems to be at a healthy weight. His black and tan coat is long and full, with cream colored markings, creating a lion's mane effect around his neck, while the rest of his coat is shorter and flat. Buster will need some grooming and regular brushing to maintain his boyish good looks and restore his coat to health. |
Buster is a mild mannered fellow, who approaches strangers calmly and inquisitively. He has demonstrated no frantic puppy histrionics or destructive tendencies. We think that he would do well with a couple of brisk leash walks daily to meet his energy needs. Buster Keaton has blended well with other dogs in his foster home and could easily join a multi-dog home. He is laid back enough to coexist with dog savvy cats, if adopters are willing to troubleshoot introductions. He would be a good choice for a moderately active single, couple or family with older kids. Buster enjoys the outdoors, but is equally content to take a mid-afternoon siesta. |
Buster Keaton is pretty easy to handle, and has good house and leash manners. He has had no formal obedience work beyond the basics that we have started in foster care. He is an excellent student, motivated by praise and treats. Buster would excel in any formal rewards based obedience and leadership program. |
Buster Keaton is in excellent health and is neutered. He has been vaccinated for rabies, parvo, distemper, bordatella and canine influenza. He has been microchipped and de-wormed and is negative for heartworm, lyme, earlichia and anaplasmosis.
