BLIZZARD

Our gorgeous Blizzard will thrill seasoned Husky folks.  He came to us from NYCACC, after he spent some time ramblin' as a city stray. Blizzard was not a fan of shelter life and objected to most routine handling. His muzzled "alligator roll" during his Vet exam was most impressive.

Blizzard's in the NYC shelter

It's not surprising that a dog may be frightened and reactive while in Shelter custody. We loved Blizzard from the moment we met him, despite shelter comments that he is suspicious of some strangers.  He warmed to us quickly and seemed to rejoice in freedom from shelter life.  In a short time, Blizzard became one of our favorites.

Blizzard is a stunning looking character, with true Siberian Husky good looks. He has a striking black and white coat with brilliant  blue eyes.  His soft, thick coat is lustrous to touch and requires regular brushing.  He will likely "blow his coat" in spring and fall.

Blizzard would be the ideal companion to an active single or couple who have large dog experience. Four years old and 50 pounds, he is a strong, energetic fellow, who requires at least a couple of brisk leash walks each day, but would thrive as a walking, running or hiking companion.  He is a true outdoors dog, and loves cruising around the woods in our ATV.

He could easily join a multi-dog home with other well trained dogs.  Since he has been with us, Blizzard has seemed interested in other dogs, and should get along well after proper introduction.  We have not had him around cats.

Blizzard is an affectionate dog, once he warms up.  He's not the kind of dog who is going to be happy, relegated to a backyard, and left alone for hours on end.  Adopters should be prepared to ask strangers to allow Blizzard to get to know them.

Blizzard is a smart, active dog, and he needs mental stimulation as well as a good physical workout each day. Obedience training is the ideal activity to challenge Blizzard in mind and body.  He responds well to positive reinforcement and leadership training techniques. Blizzard knows most of his basic commands. Adopters should be able to handle him with ease right from the beginning.

Blizzard has good house manners, and is mostly house trained and crate trained.  Adopters should expect to troubleshoot the occasional accident that will inevitably occur during his transition to a new home.  Blizzard is in excellent health, and is at an ideal lean body weight of 50 pounds.

Blizzard has been neutered, and has received routine vaccinations and health screenings. He has been dewormed, and and is on preventatives for Heartworm and Flea/Tick. If you are interested in Blizzard, please email Denise at Angelsfrgod@aol.com, or text 860-908-9738 for an adoption application.
