BERNIEDarling Bernie is a mild mannered fellow, who came to us with his brother Banjo, from an over crowded Animal Control facility, after the boys were picked up as just another pair of city strays. Bernie is a gentle soul who loves human attention and affection, and now that his brother Banjo is adopted, Bernie is waiting for his second chance miracle. |

About seven years old, Bernie is the perfect age to join a home with another adult or senior dog. He is past the puppy years, and has developed into a fairly calm, loving companion dog. Bernie is a deer head Chihuahua, and has a soft reddish brown coat that bears white markings, and prominent "knee socks." His comical facial expression is one of perpetual surprise! Bernie is a alert little guy, who loves to be in the thick of things. |
| Bernie has bonded beautifully to his foster family and is the ideal companion dog. Weighing just seven pounds, he is apartment sized, and is calm enough to be left on his own for the work day. He would get up to speed quickly in the laid back lifestyle of a single or couple, or could join a family with older kids who have some small dog experience. Bernie is just the right size for a travel buddy, and he loves to be on the go. |

Bernie is a pretty amiable fellow, who has a bright personality and friendly demeanor. He greets strangers enthusiastically, and is the consummate lap dog. Bernie has good house manners, and is housetrained and crate trained. Adopters should be prepared to troubleshoot the occasional accident, as Bernie transitions to a new routine. |
| Bernie is in great health and has been well cared for. He has been neutered, and has had a full dental cleaning, and the little dear lost a few teeth! He has had full pre-op bloodwork which was normal. Bernie has been vaccinated for rabies, DHLPP (distemper, hepatitis, leptospirosis, parvo and parainfluenza), and has been boostered as needed. He has had the 4dx test, and is negative for heartworm, lyme, earlichia and anaplasmosis. He has been dewormed, and microchipped.
