ADOPTED

AUDREY

Our lovable ingenue Audrey is a striking beauty. This two year old, sinewy girl joined us recently from NYCACC, after her owners abandoned her there. Audrey was wary of shelter workers at first, but warmed to human touch quickly, and soon became a staff and volunteer favorite.

We were delighted to take Audrey into our Rescue, and she has adapted beautifully. She appears to be a red Husky, but we wouldn't be surprised if she has a bit of Shepherd in her DNA mix. She is a medium sized, tall and graceful dog weighing just 45 pounds. Despite the slightly shorter than usual Husky coat, Audrey has the classic Husky stance and appearance, with one hazel eye and one blue eye. Her soft, flat coat is pure red and white, and is easy to maintain.

Audrey is a bit shy at first meeting, but warms quickly to gentle, patient touch. She is an affectionate girl, who needs an experienced Husky lover to help build her confidence through leadership and ongoing obedience training. Audrey would do well with an active single or couple, who have the time to commit to her consistent training. We think an adult home would be the ideal fit for her: the overzealous attentions of small children, and the comings and goings of busy household might overwhelm her.

Audrey seems to like other dogs, and could easily join a multi-dog home. As a young adult, she has shown some relish in playing with other dogs, so we think that she could do well with dogs matched to her activity level, under the supervision of savvy Adopters, who know how to run a dog pack. Audrey has a friendly, outgoing nature, and she would enjoy the companionship of other sociable dogs. She could also thrive as an only dog, in a home where she could be front and center. Audrey loves attention!

Audrey is an athletic dog, with a moderate to high energy level, who requires a couple of vigorous leash walks a day, as well focused playtime. She would make the ideal running, walking or hiking companion. Audrey has excellent stamina and endurance, and will thrive on physical activity, as well as one to one human interaction.

Audrey has a natural affinity for obedience and seems to enjoy her training sessions. She can be distracted at times, and performs her commands best after a long walk or run. She has passed most of her Canine Good Citizenship tests. Motivated adopters will be able to lead Audrey all the way to Canine Good Citizen Certification, with consistent obedience work. She has good house manners and is house trained and crate trained. Adopters should expect to troubleshoot the occasional accident that will inevitably occur during her transition to a new home.

Audrey is in good health, at at an ideal weight of 45 pounds. She has been recently spayed, has received routine vaccinations and health screenings. She has been microchipped and dewormed.
