Applebottom is one of the prettiest girls to grace our Rescue. A one year old North Carolina native, she was found traveling solo through the woods. A good samaritan brought her the County Shelter.

While we have no history on Applebottom, Shelter staff raved about her exquisite beauty and gentle temperament.  She has navigated the unwieldy rescue process with ease, and shows curiosity about new people and places.

Applebottom seems a bit shy at first, but she opens up easily once the human love starts flowing. She is extremely affectionate, and would make an outstanding family dog. Applebottom loves people and could easily live happily with older kids. Her gentle, loving nature is on full display. She definitely wears her heart on her sleeve.

Applebottom is a medium sized dog at 57 pounds, but could easily gain 5 lbs to reach normal weight. She is active, but does not have an over-the-top energy level. She requires a couple of leisurely, "smell the roses" daily walks, but then is content to rest or take a nap. She would do well in a family setting, or with a single, or retired folks. Applebottom will be happy as long as she is loved.

Applebottom loves other dogs and has become a superstar in our large dog playgroup. She easily could join a multi-dog home with other friendly dogs, but we have not had her around cats.

Applebottom is predominantly a Redbone Coonhound, and has a spectacular red coat with white markings on her chest. As a scent Hound, her instincts are a mixed bag of hunting dog attributes. Her ideal adopter would be an active single or couple, who can include Applebottom on hikes, runs, or walks, camping, or any kind of outdoors activity that will challenge mind and body.

Applebottom has good house manners, and is house trained and crate trained.  Adopters should expect to troubleshoot the occasional accident that will inevitably occur during her transition to a new home. She has been spayed, and has received routine vaccinations and health screenings.
