SIMON

Our rowdy Simon is a big boy, with a vibrant personality, whose play vibe is out of this world! He came to us from one of our American Eskimo rescue contacts in Florida, after he had run amok of his foster mom with some wild puppy antics. Simon was the epitome of the unruly puppy who was such a cute fluff-ball at birth, but grew up into a rowdy brat.

Our mission was to teach Simon some manners, after we aleviated his frustration from boredom and lack of exercise. We invited Simon to Connecticut, and began his training bootcamp, and he immediately surrendered to our positive leadership approach, and began outperforming all of the other dogs.

As we exercised Simon, we began to see quite a bit of Retriever Behavior. He's a natural swimmer and spent hours over the summer chasing balls into our pool. The other part of his DNA we suspect is standard American Eskimo dog. His coat is completely white, but flat and wavy like the Golden Retriever. Also, we see some faint golden color variations that also suggest Retriever.

Simon is a mix of two breeds that need mental and physical stimulation to be happy, and maintain balanced behavior. At 60 pounds and two years old, he is a large, strong dog, and has a youthful vigor. He would do well in an active home, with folks who enjoy an outdoors lifestyle. Simon is a high energy dog, who needs alot of vigorous exercise to work off his yayas. He loves the outdoors, particularly snow, and swimming, and would be the ideal, running, walking or hiking companion. If underexercised, Simon can become bored and frustrated, so he is definitely not a candidate for a laid back lifestyle.

Strong, alpha leadership is the key to Simon. He needs an experienced adopter, who exudes confidence, and can command his respect. He seems to consider his training regimen as his job, and takes pride in excellent performance. He is surprisingly easy to train, and since arriving in foster care, he has mastered all of his basic obedience commands. He works for both praise and treats, so Adopters will be able to use basic commands to communicate instantly with Simon and assert their pack leader status. Simon would be a great fit for folks who enjoy obedience work. He will astound them!

Simon would be best suited to an adult home, maybe with teenagers, who are all on the same page about maintaining his exercise and training regimen. Once he is settled into his pack dynamic, Simon is an exceptionally fun dog, full of love and life, poised to thrill and delight his family. Due to his size and strength, we feel he would overwhelm toddlers, older kids and cats, but he could coexist nicely with another dog after proper introduction.

Simon is in excellent health, and is neutered. After testing positive for Heartworm, he has been successfully treated and is in great shape. He has good house manners, and is house trained and crate trained. Adopters should expect the occasional accident as he transitions to a new home. Simon is vaccinated for Rabies, DHLPPC (Parvo, Hepatitis, Distemper, Leptospirosis, Parvovirus, Parainfluenza and Coronavirus). He has been dewormed, and has tested negative for tick born diseases.
