Our Scarlett is a stunning Redbone Coonhound who lost her home last year do to the COVID crisis. Her family was struggling financially, and then her owner's adult children lost their home and had to move in with Mom, with a new baby in tow.

Scarlett came to us in December 2020 and she was a bit timid as she made her transition to rescue, but WOW has she blossomed. This red beauty is the ultimate family dog. Scarlett loves all people, other dogs, and we suspect she might do well with cats.  Five years old, she is at the perfect age to blend into a home with senior dogs, or pups. She has a gentle, neutral vibe that dogs seem to like, and she is one of the superstars in our big dog play group.

Scarlett is a big girl at 70 pounds, and is moderately active. She loves a spirited leash walk but then knows when to take a nap. She seems more laid back than most Hounds, and while still scent motivated, she doesn't seem as easily distracted as some of our other Hounds.

Scarlett knows most basic commands and is well on the road to Canine Good Citizen Certification. She has good house manners, and is house trained and crate trained. Adopters should expect to troubleshoot the occasional accident that will inevitably occur during her transition to a new home. Scarlett  is in great health, has been spayed, and has received routine vaccinations and health screenings. She has been dewormed, microchipped and is on preventatives for Heartworm and Flea/Tick.
