ADOPTED

POPOLINDO

Our handsome boy, Popolindo, is a debonair fellow who would charm any adopter, if given a couple minutes warm up time! He recently joined us from an overcrowded Animal Control facility where he spent some time after his owner moved to a dog-unfriendly residence.

Popo's shelter mug shot

Although Popo received excellent behavior evaluations, he seemed to show signs of depression as he adjusted to shelter life. He was overwhelmed and overshadowed in the shelter adoption program. In a short time, he caught the shelter kennel cough and was relegated to the euthanasia list. We are happy that our shelter contacts rerouted him to our rescue.

Popo is a robust Chocolate Miniature Pinscher with a stance and carriage that screams "King of the Toys." Popo is a small, sturdy dog, but is a big boy, for a Min Pin, and weighs 14 pounds. His short flat coat is chocolate brown and tan, with a smattering of white splashed across his chest. He has a devilish, rakish grin that suggests that any second he will speak to us with a delicious Anthony Banderos accent.

Popo's former home was a hectic one, complete with a five year old child, with whom he played gently and lovingly. Even though he was tolerant of the child in his home, we think he'd be happier in an adult home or with a family who have older children, experienced with the hijinks of spirited small fries.

We think that Popo would most enjoy a quiet, but active lifestyle with an adult single or couple, who love lap dog companionship, after some outdoor activities. Popo tends to add his voice to chronic chaos, so a calm atmosphere will bring out his best nature. He is a high energy dog, who is always at the center stage in a dog pack, especially when there is food to be had. Popo could easily join a multi-dog home with one or two other well trained dogs, provided supper time can be a controlled event.

Popo has good house manners, and is house trained, crate trained and can easily be persuaded to use a wee wee pad in inclement weather. Adopters should expect to troubleshoot the occasional accident that will inevitably occur during his transition to a new home.

Popo is in excellent health, and is at a lean body weight. He is recently neutered, and has been vaccinated for Rabies, DHLPPC (distemper, hepatitis, leptospirosis, parvo, parainfluenza and coronavirus), He has been boostered as needed. He has had the 4dx test: negative for heartworm, lyme, earlichia and anaplasmosis. He has been dewormed, and microchipped. He has been on appropriate heartworm and flea/tick preventatives.
