ADOPTED

NEECIE

One of the saddest things we see as a rescue is an older dog displaced by a beloved owner, who abandoned them to the harsh reality of NYCACC. That is the very situation in which Sam and Neecie find themselves. These beautiful Shepherd mixes were castoff after their owner had a new baby.

We were made aware of Sam and Neecie's immediate need by our shelter contacts via their "Deferred Intake" program. They were allowed to stay with their owner until transport could be made to our Connecticut Rescue. Fortunately they were spared the full shelter experience, and their acclimation to rescue was eased somewhat.

see more pictures of Sam here.

Sam and Neecie seem happy and well adjusted, although these beautiful furkids are perplexed at their abrupt change in circumstances. Nonetheless, they have remained good natured, and have adapted nicely to a busy foster home. They have delightful, calm and gentle temperaments that could blend in well to any home or lifestyle.

In a perfect world, we'd love to place these lifelong companions together, but to maximixe their chances for adoption, we have socialized them separately. They are older dogs who are well past the puppy destructive phase and have excellent house manners, and are house trained. They get along well with other dogs, and possibly cats. They would add alot of love and light to the any household.

Sam and Neecie are Shepherd-Labrador Retriever mixes. Neecie is a tan and cream colored female, with yellow Lab features, and weighs a petite 28 pounds. Sam is a black and tan mid sized male and weighs 40 pounds. Their lustrous coats reflect years of good care and healthy diet.

Shepherds and Labs seem to amond the working breeds most adaptable to a domesticated family lifestyle. Sam and Neecie have the friendly and outgoing temperaments that are described in the two breed standard. They seem relaxed and easy going and willing to please their special people. They could be a great addition to a busy family, or, could thrive in a home with active adults. This handsome pair would be a great companion for active seniors or first time dog owners.

Despite their active, working dog DNA, Sam and Neecie seem calm and quiet, and would be ideal for apartment life that requires leash walking. They would also thrive in a suburban or country environment where they have room to run. They are affectionate, go-with-the-flow companions: active, yet they know when to take a timely nap.

Sam and Neecie are in good health, and are altered. They have received routine vaccinations and health screenings, and have been dewormed. Both have had complete dental procedures with pre-op bloodwork that was normal, and can be used as a baseline going forward.
