ADOPTED

MOE

Our jovial hooligan, Moe, is a boisterous, rollicking, two year old American Eskimo who lives life out loud. This robust, 21 pound Miniature exudes the Eskie spirit that draws folks to this stunning breed. Moe came to us via a surburban Humane Society, where he had been dumped by his owner, who had let him run amuck and then failed to provide proper obedience training or leadership.

We were eager to meet the beautiful Moe, and immediately saw that he had a giant chip on his shoulder. We are pleased to report that after a short time in training boot camp, Moe has grasped the basics beautifully, and actually seems relieved to have something to do. The simple combination of exercise and obedience training is all it took to turn Moe into a reasonably well mannered companion. Adopters will be able to get up to speed quickly, now that Moe knows all of his commands, and readily works for treats or praise.

We would like to see Moe join the home of experienced Eskie owners, preferably folks who have dealt with a rescue Eskie before. We'd like to see folks demonstrate some keen problem solving skills and willingness to make corrections when necessary. Moe is likely to test the boundaries in his new home, and a wee bit of the ol' mischevious prankster may rear his head, in the first few weeks of adoption. Adopters should be patient and firm with Moe, and establish Alpha leadership from day one.

Moe would do well in an active adult home, where he can play a front and center role. He loves to run and hike and do just about anything outdoors. Activity is the key to Moe's happiness. He doesn't sit still for very long, and would be a natural at obedience competition or agility training. As a quick witted Eskie, Moe needs mental as well as physical challenges. Moe is generally people friendly, but we'd prefer to steer clear of small children, who may not respect Moe's boundaries, and cats, who might tempt him to chase. However, Moe could join a multi-dog home with other well-trained dogs. He loves to play and roughhouse.

Moe will do best in a home that is structured and disciplined. If he is left to his own devices, and given free run too quickly, he will surely make some mischief. He has good house manners, and is house trained and crate trained, although, adopters should be prepared to acclimate Moe to a new potty routine. He may have an occasional accident during his transition to a new home.

Moe is in excellent health, and has been neutered. He is vaccinated for rabies, parvo, adrenovirus, distemper, hepatitus, leptopirosis, and coronavirus. He's been groomed a couple of times and has handled easily while muzzled. He has been dewormed, and has tested negative for heartworm, lyme, earlichia and anaplasmosis.
