KENSOE

Our stunning Kenzoe is a poster boy for the beauty, grace and magnificent spirit that is characteristic of the American Staffordshire Terrier. The reputation of this American breed is in tatters of late, due to widespread owner mishandling and malintent. Kenzoe's adopters will have a unique opportunity to show the world the best AmStaff traits, the traits that our grandparents revered, when Bully Breeds were the lovable mascots of our patriotic culture.

Kenzoe has a familiar story. He had become a statistic: one more Staffie found stay in an abandoned building, trying to survive on the mean streets. His owner did not come to claim him, once he wound up in the high kill Animal Control Facility, where he was shortlisted for euthanasia, despite good behavior evaluations.

Kenzoe is an unusual tri-color Staffie and is at the prime of his young adult life, just three years old. He is a large dog, weighing 57 pounds, and has a muscular physique, and a good deal of physical strength. He has a short, brown, tan and white coat that requires minimal grooming.

Kenzoe has remained unaffected by the unwieldy rescue process, that can sway some nervous temperments, and has maintained his friendly, outgoing personality. Kenzoe loves people, and would be best suited to an active single or couple, with a lot of time to spend on his exercise and training needs. Kenzoe's ideal person would have some physical strength and stamina to keep up with him. He would make an excellent running or hiking companion. He is a strong, active boy!

Kenzoe would thrive as an only dog in an adult home. His robust Terrier energy would overwhelm other dogs, cats and kids, but he would relish the focused attention of adults or teenagers, who can continue the obedience work that we have begun. Kenzoe has excelled in his basic obedience training, and he seems to enjoy the work. He is very treat motivated, and works well with all forms of positive reinforcement and leadership training techniques.

Owners of large, powerful breeds have a greater burden of responsibility to provide effective leadership, exercise, and obedience work to maintain control over their dogs. Kenzoe had no obedience training when he came to our Rescue, and as a member of a high energy Bully breed, he requires vigorous daily workouts to keep his Terrier yayas in check. Once Kenzoe has had a brisk walk or run, he can focus like a laser beam on his obedience work. If adopters continue Kenzoe on his Canine Good Citizen path, he will become a much needed Amassador of the Breed.

Kenzoe is in excellent health, and has been recently neutered. He has been vaccinated for rabies and DHLPP (distemper, hepatitis, leptospirosis, parvo and parainfluenza). He has had the 4dx test, and is negative for heartworm, lyme, earlichia and anaplasmosis. He has been microchipped and dewormed.
